Ministry Trip to Monte Verde

Prev | Main Page | Next

Sunday evening, one team traveled an hour & a half into the mountains to minister at the church of the village of San Antonio Monte Verde. It was quite the windy road with long drops and no guard rail. Ask Pastor Perry to tell you more!

We heard a couple cool stories about Monte Verde and another nearby village. In the early 80's, new believers began preaching the gospel to their villages. The Catholics told them to stop or they would kill them. They refused to recant. In one village, they began to beat the man to death when suddenly the beaters began to beat up each other and the Christian was able to just walk away! In Monte Verde, they tied up the two brothers and were about to hang them when out of the blue an army truck started coming down the road (and this place is pretty remote!). The villagers ran away and the Federales let the Christians go free.

When we arrived, we had a flat tire and no lug wrench! Between the church service and having to search the village for tools, it was pretty late before they finally cut the lug bolts short enough to use one of the wrenches. We finally left at about 1:30 am. Jordan and Pastor Berdardo didn't want to tell us as we headed back through the mountains that the spare tire also had a leak AND... about half-way back, the brakes were failing!! Praise God for keeping us safe!
